Photography Wichita Mountains, Oklahoma |

Not only can Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge boast being the oldest continually managed wildlife preserve in the U.S., it contains one of the oldest mountain ranges on earth. The rugged beauty of the granite mountains and rare tall grass prarie comprise one of the eleven terrains in Oklahoma. This little known gem is teeming with wildlife, from large herds of American bison and Texas longhorn cattle that epitomize the American romanticism of the wild west to the Mountain Boomers and prairie dogs that are as indigenous to the area as the wild spirits of the Oklahomans. |
