Girona
So if driving is so terrible, why did you drive? The answer to that is simple,
it allowed us to get out of Barcelona and go to places like Girona. As bad as
driving from our hotel to the expressway was, the expressway was beautiful,
modern and well marked, although tolls were a bit on the steep side at
$3-$4 USD.
It was a cold (60 F/15 C) and cloudy day when we arrived in Girona.
The old town wall still exists in Girona (unlike Barcelona, where it has been
almost completely removed) and you can walk along the top of it.
The old Gothic and especially the old Jewish quarter were beautiful and
fascinating with narrow streets and stairs around every corner.
